LEADING MEXICAN CLUB PACHUCA HONORED FOR ITS COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING MEXICAN SOCIETY

Pachuca Recognized as a Model Institution

LOS ANGELES (October 25, 2004) - In continuing a tradition of recognizing those who have made significant contributions to the game of soccer, Fútbol de Primera and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. honored Mexico's Club de Fútbol Pachuca and its President, Jesús Martínez Patiño, for its accomplishments on and off the field and for its dedication for improving the lives of all Mexicans, during today's Honda Symposium in Los Angeles.

Three years ago, Pachuca opened its "Universidad de Fútbol" and the Center for Soccer and Sports Sciences, which offers people of all ages high-quality academic training aimed at elevating the quality, productivity and efficiency of sports in Mexico. The one-of-a-kind University opened a new era in the history of Mexican soccer, in the history of Mexican sports, and in the education of the Mexican people.

Additionally, in 1994, Pachuca created, in conjunction with the state government, what is now the largest soccer school program in Mexico. Today this system of 127 schools, including 122 in Mexico and 5 in the United States, reaches more than 30,000 children. These projects, in conjunction with the team's recent success on the field, has made Pachuca a model organization that other clubs all over the world can emulate.

Upon receiving this recognition, the President of Pachuca, Jesús Martínez, said, "Soccer is a cultural phenomenon, and it is fundamental for Pachuca to work for the common good by working with children through our schools, educating future sports professionals through our University, creating international soccer conferences, and developing other activities suitable for the entire family and beneficial to the entire community."
